Preparing a fermionic 1D Hubbard model in a thermal initial state we study the reaction of the system to a sudden change of one of its parameters: We switch off the on-site interaction U. We introduce a Quantum Monte Carlo method that allows for the observation of the time-dependent behaviour of the system after the change and discuss the relaxation of observables to new constant values. Due to the conservation laws of the system a relaxation to a new thermal state is not expected.
